StairRise Flight Lab is a live rise–run workbench for remodelers, finish carpenters, trade-school students, and serious DIYers planning straight, L, or U residential flights. It is not a project archive and not a generic construction calculator. You enter total rise, set target tread depth and max unit rise, then drag comfort bands while tread rectangles, nosing, landings, and winders redraw instantly on a scaled elevation. Educational IRC-style checks flag riser height, tread depth, variance, nosing, and headroom with fix suggestions (teaching aid only—not jurisdiction certification). When the geometry holds, export a cut ticket with seat/heel marks, stock length, board counts, and skirt hints—or drill seeded practice flights and the anatomy quiz before you cut a single 2x12.

Bench modules

Workshop amber precision for every mark on the stringer.

Total-rise pad

Enter floor-to-floor height in inches or millimeters, lock preferred tread depth and max unit rise, and instantly recompute riser count, unit rise/run, total run, and walking-line length.

Live stringer bench

Drag comfort-band controls for unit rise vs unit run while tread rectangles, nosing overhang, and the full stringer outline update in real time with zoomable dimension callouts.

Landing & winder splitter

Drop an intermediate landing or switch to L/U winder geometry; the bench splits the flight, enforces landing depth rules in plain language, and redraws each run with separate mark sets.

Code-check panel & section view

Flag max riser, min tread, consecutive variance, nosing range, and headroom with fix suggestions, then verify clearance on a cutaway section with a movable head-clearance glyph.

Cut-ticket export

Generate birdsmouth seat/heel marks, stock length, tread and riser board counts, and skirt hints—preview, Share Sheet, or save a one-page PDF for the saw station.

Practice flights & lumber estimator

Correct flawed porch, basement, split-level, and attic scenarios against model solutions, then compute 2x12 stringer count/length, tread/riser stock, and optional skirts with a waste factor.
